Detailed below are some local groups that offer a whole spectrum of things to do with your little ones, from sign language to rugby! More details on specific locations and details of the classes can be found on each of the groups’ websites. It’s worth noting that there are more options slightly further afield but we have focused on the groups that are in easy reach from Streatham.
Babble Talks is the event for all new parents who are looking for something to stimulate their minds. We invite expert guest speakers to present a 20-minute talk, participate in a bit of interactive fun and games and then answer audience questions. It’s an opportunity for you to flex those intellectual muscles for an hour and switch your focus – these talks are NOT about parenting!

Music class for babies and children up to four years old. Featuring original songs, specialist percussion instruments, dance, movement, puppets, props and lots of bubbles. Separate classes for each age group.

Funky Moves Dance
Funky Moves offers a unique dance experience for boys and girls from 4-12 years. Their street dance style can be choreographed to all the latest chart hits. With professional, energetic teachers. Classes help children develop their strength, stamina, balance and co-ordination as well as team participation, discipline, focus and memory skills. Any child who hasn’t been to a Funky Moves class before can sign up for a free trial.
Classes at the Tate Streatham on Saturdays in term time – 9.30 – 10.20 am (4-6 yrs) and 10.30 – 11.30 am (7-12 yrs).
Funky pre-school dance classes for girls and boys aged 18 months plus, although younger children are welcome. Parents and carers are encouraged to join in. Free trial classes available.

WhizzDance aims to inspire, nurture and encourage dance students in a structured yet fun, creative environment. WhizzDance offers a range of classes throughout the week from 2yrs to 6yrs+ along with adult classes. Free trials available for all children’s classes.
Classes at the SYCT on Wellfield Road, and at Dunraven School in Streatham.
Designed to stimulate, educate and provide precious memories during the all-important first year of life. Babies can start Baby Sensory classes from birth and move on to Toddler Sense when they are 13 months-old. Different themes classes each week provide ideas for play, massage, tummy time, movement, visual development, hand-eye coordination and music in simple practical ways that can easily be repeated at home.

Sensory Land’s Movers Activity Class
40 minute fun filled themed classes perfect for babies that are sitting into crawling up to preschool aged children. This class includes lots of songs, a messy or sensory play, and a story. If your child enjoys parachutes, props, puppets, playing music and bubbles, then this class is for you.
The Baby Sensory Experience

Tots Tennis is a fun introduction to movement, balls and tennis, designed for 3-4 year olds. The child is on court in a group of maximum of 6 children or 10 if the coach has an assistant, while their parent/carer watches from the sidelines.
Classes at the Wigmore Tennis Club Streatham
Positive introduction to sport by teaching high quality football skills in a friendly, pressure-free environment. Four difference classes tailored specifically to the needs of children between 18 months and seven years.
Classes in Dulwich, Balham and Wimbledon
A child-development based fun multi-sports class where children learn the skills for the seven most popular sports (cricket, football, tennis, volleyball, baseball, hockey and basketball).

Little Dinos Club is a children’s group and sports club that offers classes to improve physical and social skills of girls and boys aged from 18 months to 5 years old. Coaching is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Classes in Croydon.
Comprehensive swimming programme spread across 29 progressive levels suitable for the early introduction of babies, from 10 weeks old in Level 1, right through to children of approximately 7 or 8 years in Child Level 29. Teaches children how to swim as well as water confidence, water safety and when older, snorkeling, rescue and how to use underwater scooters.

Cindy’s Swim School
A locally based swim school focussed on providing personalised swimming lessons for the whole family. A hands-on approach, with a focus on fun, discipline and progress. A specialised swim program and method of teaching. All our swimmers (from as young as 10 weeks through to adults) are taught the key foundations of swimming within a fun, safe and structured environment.

A purpose built baby swimming pool. Classes of no more than 6 babies, with a free pair of swimming trunks when you sign up for a course.

Tailored programme within a structured framework aimed at building confidence and water safety. Lessons are taught in specially selected pools with limited class sizes. Classes incorporate rhyme (bespoke songs have been written by professional musicians) and movement based on extensive child development research.
Classes at Broadwater Primary School and Balham Leisure Centre.
Instructors are trained to work with toddlers and children of all ages with additional needs including down syndrome, autism, cerebal palsy, partially sighted and hearing difficulties.

Dolphins Swim School
Swimming lessons for babies, children and adults. The Dolphin Swim School began one Saturday afternoon in October 1989 when the founder, Sid Shephard held his first private swimming lessons at Wimbledon College. Over the years they opened more sessions at Wimbledon until they were teaching every day after school and on Saturdays

Streatham Leisure Centre
The leisure centre has two swimming pools, a 25m 6 lane pool and a 13m teaching pool. There are daily swim sessions open to the public in the warm and shallow teaching pool as well as a range of swimming lessons on offer for infants and toddlers.

Tiny Talk Sign Language
Baby and Parent sign language classes, helping babies communicate before they become verbal using Makaton sign language in a fun, music-based class.

Sing and Sign
Babies use all kinds of signs and gestures as a natural part of learning to talk. Baby signing with Sing and Sign is easy and fun.
